About Us

Drops Fill Buckets is a 501c3 non-profit organization dedicated to raising money for pressing needs around the globe. Befitting an organization set up for busy people, by busy people, we’ve kept our goals simple and our outcomes clear. First, we put ownership of this organization – and therefore its goals and priorities – in the hands of its members. Second, we strive to minimize the vast administrative burden that often prevents nonprofits from optimizing their allocation of resources. And finally, we aim to give only to projects with tangible, quantifiable, and visible outcomes.

Why We’re Different – The “Donor Chooses” Model:

Charitable organizations often ask members to commit to a philosophy or a cause, but then push members to the periphery as the board dictates how funds are spent. We at DFB believe that model is not for everyone. DFB members will vote as a group on specific issues that they wish to raise money for, with every member having equal say in choosing that cause or issue. Similarly, every DFB member will have the opportunity to suggest a fundraising cause, which can be put to a vote, alongside the suggestions of other members, to the entire DFB community.

Achievable Goals:

We are committed to working on tightly defined projects where a lump sum donation can make a significant difference in ongoing service. Funds will be donated for a specific project which will enable a local charity to better serve its community. This ensures near total control over how the funds are allocated. For example, we will donate an ambulance to a rural hospital so it can reach a wider population, or donate mosquito netting to a community wrought with malaria, or provide textbooks to an underserved school. The goal must be tangible and achievable in the short-term to receive funds from DFB.

The Nuts and Bolts:

Projects will be selected during meetings at which DFB members will present a particular charity and make the case for supporting it. The presentation must include information about the viability of the project, how funds would be allocated and overseen, and the timeframe for raising those funds. Each nominated cause will then be put to a vote. Once the charity is chosen, members will reach out to friends, family, colleagues, and other contacts asking for donations. DFB will be equipped to process donations through our website via credit card. DFB will also provide members with the necessary materials to accurately and convincingly convey the urgency of the cause to potential donors.
