Orissa, India Hospital Construction Update
The bricks have been fire hardened, and the foundation is built. A local mason has also been selected for the construction work. Due to labor shortages in the area, the foundation was actually dug after normal working hours by current staff at the hospital. They worked every night for nine nights so the construction could stay on schedule! The foundation was filled with rough sand, to ensure it is strong enough to withstand the harsh weather the region endures during Monsoon and Cyclone season.
Please check back in with us for further updates on construction progress!
Minneapolis Boundary Waters Update
Our Minneapolis Chapter is up and running, with one fantastic project under their belt already. Under the leadership of Kai and Carolyn Sakstrup, DFB Minneapolis raised $5,000 to send 15 underprivileged kids on a camping and canoe trip to the boundary waters of Northern Minnesota. It was a wonderful first project which they turned around within a month so the kids can enjoy the trip this summer.
