Saving Mothers Update

The first event for our New York chapter will be held on Thursday March 11. We are raising money to buy surgical head lamps for Saving Mothers (savingmothers.org), which provides care to women in developing countries. This is a vital need, as there is no reliable lighting in many of the clinics where Saving Mothers' surgeons work.

We're excited that the fundraiser will take place at the Gates, an elegant lounge in Chelsea! (www.thegatesnyc.com). There will be an open bar from 8-10 and DJ.

Orissa, India Hospital Construction Update

The bricks have been fire hardened, and the foundation is built. A local mason has also been selected for the construction work. Due to labor shortages in the area, the foundation was actually dug after normal working hours by current staff at the hospital. They worked every night for nine nights so the construction could stay on schedule! The foundation was filled with rough sand, to ensure it is strong enough to withstand the harsh weather the region endures during Monsoon and Cyclone season.

Please check back in with us for further updates on construction progress!

Minneapolis Boundary Waters Update

Our Minneapolis Chapter is up and running, with one fantastic project under their belt already. Under the leadership of Kai and Carolyn Sakstrup, DFB Minneapolis raised $5,000 to send 15 underprivileged kids on a camping and canoe trip to the boundary waters of Northern Minnesota. It was a wonderful first project which they turned around within a month so the kids can enjoy the trip this summer.

If you’re interested in learning more or joining up with Kai and Carolyn, please email Kai at Kai@DropsFillBuckets.org.
