DFB Los Angeles has raised $10,000 to support VISPA, a school and orphanage in southwestern Kenya. The school is responsible for educating approximately 400 children in one of the poorest areas of Kenya, and it is home to 40 children left parentless due to the AIDS crisis that has ravished communities throughout Africa. The DFB project will cover the costs of equipping a brand new science and computer lab at the school, from lab tables and chairs to microscopes and net books.

VISPA already has teachers on staff eager to educate their students in science and health education, particularly the germ theory of disease – the missing link is the lab equipment that will make hands-on learning possible. Read more about the region and VISPA's work on our blog, and help us give these kids the information they need to fight the spread of disease and connect with the wider world through computers with internet access.
